Robert Moog

Age: 71

electronic music pioneer who in 1965 created the Moog synthesizer. Many experimental and rock bands, such as Tangerine Dream, used the synthesizer in the 1960s and '70s. Bands such as the Beastie Boys and Wilco have recently rediscovered the instrument.

Died: Asheville, N.C., Aug. 21, 2005
