L. Patrick Gray III

Age: 88

acting director of the FBI during Watergate who testified during his 1973 Senate confirmation hearings that he had given the White House FBI files about its investigation into the break-in. Gray resigned in 1973, after admitting to burning forged papers from E. Howard Hunt's safe that were used to discredit members of the Kennedy family.

Died: Atlantic Beach, Fla., July 6, 2005
