Jack Kilby

Age: 81

Nobel Prize–winning electrical engineer who designed and developed the integrated circuit, commonly called the microchip, which miniaturized many consumer electronic products. His invention helped to usher in the electronic age.

Died: Dallas, June 20, 2005
