Shirley Chisholm

Age: 80

bold politician who was the first black woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and the first woman to run for the Democratic presidential nomination. In her seven terms in the House, Chisholm was a critic of the Vietnam War and an advocate for the urban poor.
