Italian lyric soprano known for her rich, luminous voice. She was one of the most praised members of the Metropolitan Opera company from the 1950s through the mid-1970s. Tebaldi received wide acclaim for her performances in the title roles in Tosca, Aïda,and Madama Butterfly. Died: San Marino, Dec. 19, 2004
