Scott Peterson,

California salesman, was convicted in November of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Laci, and of second-degree murder in the death of their unborn son. The jury sentenced him to death in December. Laci, seven months pregnant, disappeared on December 24, 2002. Her body and that of the unborn child washed ashore on San Francisco Bay months later.
