Brock Adams Age: 77
politician from Washington who served six terms as a U.S. representative before becoming President Carter's transportation secretary in 1977. In 1986, he unseated Republican senator Slade Gorton. Dogged by allegations of sexual harassment, which he denied, Adams did not seek reelection. Died: Stevensville, Md., Sept. 10, 2004
