Porter Goss,

former U.S. congressman from Florida, became director of the CIA in September. Goss served as the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and worked for the CIA as a spy during the cold war. He had been critical of the agency, saying it has “ignored its core mission” and is in “dysfunctional denial of any need for corrective action.” His first few months at the CIA were rocky, as several top spies resigned and his changes at the agency were questioned.
