Barack Obama,

state senator from Illinois, delivered a rousing keynote speech at July's Democratic National Convention. “There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America,” he said. Obama, whose black father was born in Kenya and white mother in Kansas, is running for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Obama won the Democratic primary in a landslide.
