Michael Moore,

filmmaker, gained an impassioned following with the release of Fahrenheit 9/11, a documentary harshly critical of President Bush, his administration, the war in Iraq, and Bush's handling of the war on terrorism. The film won the Palme d'Or (the top prize) at the Cannes International Film Festival. In its opening weekend in late June, Fahrenheit 9/11 took in nearly $22 million at the box office to become the highest-grossing documentary of all time.
