Antonin Scalia, Supreme Court justice, refused in March to recuse himself from a case involving Vice President Dick Cheney, a close friend with whom he went duck hunting just weeks after the court agreed to hear the case. The Sierra Club and Judicial Watch were seeking to force Cheney to reveal details about private meetings of his energy task force. In a 21-page memo, Scalia said, “If it is reasonable to think that a Supreme Court Justice can be bought so cheap, the nation is in deeper trouble than I had imagined.”
