William Steig

Age: 95

cartoonist and children's book writer who contributed 1,600 drawings to the New Yorker and 117 covers. His work was often personal and symbolic, depicting characters in various forms of distress. His books include Shrek!, which was adapted for film and Dr. De Soto.
