Hu Jintao,

Chinese politician, assumed the presidency in March, succeeding President Jiang Zemin. Hu had become general secretary of the Communist Party at the 16th Party Congress in November 2002. Although he had served in China's politburo for more than ten years, little is know about Hu's governing style.
