Celia Cruz

Age: 77

Cuban singer whose rich contralto voice, persistently upbeat songs, and effusive stage presence earned her the title of Queen of Salsa. Cuban-born, Cruz arrived in the U.S. in 1961 and became a star, performing with dozens of Latin musicians, including Johnny Pacheco and Tito Puente.
