David Brinkley

Age: 82

pioneering journalist who, with Chet Huntley, hosted NBC's influential Huntley-Brinkley Report. Known for his clipped voice and candid, often skeptical comments, Brinkley went on to anchor NBC's Nightly News. In 1981, he left NBC for ABC, where he hosted the Sunday morning talk show This Week with David Brinkley. His 1995 memoir summed up his career: David Brinkley: 11 Presidents, 4 Wars, 22 Political Conventions, 1 Moon Landing, 3 Assassinations, 2,000 Weeks of News, and Other Stuff on Television and 18 Years of Growing Up in North Carolina.
