chair of the National Council of Women's Organizations, led the much-publicized campaign against Augusta National Golf Club, Georgia's exclusive, all-male enclave that hosts the Masters tournament each April. After the tournament, Augusta chairman Hootie Johnson defiantly said, “There never will be a female member, six months after the Masters, a year, ten years, or ever.”
