Sami Al-Arian, Kuwaiti-born Florida professor, was arrested and charged with racketeering by federal prosecutors in February. The 50-count indictment accuses the suspended University of South Florida computer engineering professor of leading Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a U.S.-based terrorist group suspected of funding and helping to organize suicide bombers in Israel. Seven other people were also indicted.
