Leon Hart Age: 73
two-way lineman at Notre Dame, who helped lead the Irish to a36-0-2 record and three national titles during his four years there in the late 1940s; also led the NFL's Lions to four conference titles and three league titles in eight pro seasons; one of two lineman (and the last) to win a Heisman Trophy (1949); AP athlete of the year in 1949; played end, defensive end and fullback with the Lions; inducted into College Football Hall of Fame in 1973. The cause of his death was not given. Died: South Bend, Ind., Sept. 24
