John Zimmerman

Age: 74

groundbreaking sports photojournalist; credited with inventing techniques for first capturing what are familiar shots today, such as those from inside hockey nets and behind clear NBA backboards; hired by Sports Illustrated in 1956 but left in the early 1960s for a freelance career; shot 10 Olympics for SI, Time and Life magazines. He died of complications of lymphoma.
