Janet Reno, former U.S. attorney general, lost her bid to become the governor of Florida when Bill McBride beat her in September's Democratic primary election, 44.5% to 43.9%. The vote was tainted by malfunctioning voting machines, voter disenfranchisement, and botched results, an embarrassing reminder of the 2000 presidential election debacle.
