Prince Ahmed bin Salman

Age: 43

Saudi Arabian businessman and owner of War Emblem, winner of the 2002 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes; purchased 90% of the colt for $900,000 less than three weeks before the Derby; headed The Thoroughbred Corp., the California-based stable that also produced 2001 Horse of the Year Point Given; chairman of Saudi Research and Marketing, which owns some 30 publications. He died of a heart attack.
