Worth, Texas, who won the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour's first sanctioned event in 1950 (Tampa Open); finished tied for second at the 1947 U.S. Open, at age 21; six-time Curtis Cup team member and captain of the U.S. squad in 1962.
