Billy Vessels

Age: 70

All-American halfback at Oklahoma, who became the school's first Heisman Trophy winner in 1952; won national title with the Sooners in 1950; two-time all-conference selection; member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He died after a brief illness.

Died: Coral Gables, Fla., Nov. 17
