Tom Brokaw,

news anchor, in June announced plans to retire from NBC Nightly News after the 2004 presidential election. MSNBC anchor Brian Williams will assume the helm. Brokaw, who joined the show in 1982, said he would occasionally contribute to NBC News after his retirement.
