Sam Francis

Age: 88

University of Nebraska fullback; earned All-America honors and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting in 1936; placed fourth in the shot put at the 1936 Berlin Olympics; elected to College Football Hall of Fame in 1977. The cause of his death was not given.

Died: Springfield, Mo., April 23
