Hansie Cronje

Age: 32

beloved South African cricket captain, who was the unlikely conspirator in a match-fixing scandal that rocked international cricket in 2000; captained South Africa, starting in 1994-95; admitted to accepting bribes in exchange for playing badly and asking teammates to do the same in matches, but denied ever "fixing" a match; banned for life from the sport by the country's United Cricket Board in October 2000. He died of injuries suffered in a plane crash.
