physician who was consumed with clearing the name of his grandfather, Dr. Samuel Mudd, who was convicted by a military court of conspiring in the assassination of President Lincoln. Samuel Mudd set John Wilkes Booth's broken leg after the murder. Died: Saginaw, Mich., May 21, 2002
