Oprah Winfrey,

media queen, sent shockwaves through the publishing industry with her April announcement that she would no longer regularly recommend books on her Oprah Winfrey Show. Nearly 50 titles have been featured since Oprah's Book Club debuted in 1996, and every one of them has rocketed up the bestseller lists. Many of the titles have featured women overcoming obstacles and dysfunction. “It has become harder and harder to find books on a monthly basis that I feel absolutely compelled to share,” she said.
