Richard Reid, accused terrorist, said in October that he would plead guilty to eight terrorism-related charges, including attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, attempted murder, and attempted destruction of an aircraft. He was arrested in Dec. 2001 after he tried to light a fuse extending from his shoe on an American Airlines Paris-to-Miami flight. Investigators found plastic explosives in both shoes. Reid is a British citizen who had converted to Islam and reportedly has links to al-Qaeda.
