Lawrence (Crash) Davis Age: 82minor league infielder made famous by the 1988 film "Bull Durham"; Carolina League veteran, who played for Raleigh and Reidsville in addition to the Durham Bulls from 1946-51; hit a league-record 50 doubles and batted .318 for Durham in 1948; after retiring in 1951 he coached high school baseball and led Bethesda High in Gastonia, Ga. to two state championships in the 1950s; worked as a personnel executive for a North Carolina textile manufacturer for almost 30 years and retired in 1985.
