organized the first American Bowling Congress "beer team" in 1933, which prompted the sport's most prolific bowling league and put Detroit at the center of the bowling map; captained the brewery-sponsored team that won the 1934 ABC title; nicknamed "Boy Wonder of Bowling"; bowled with a legendary team of American bowlers in an exhibition before the 1936 Berlin Games; in 1994, at age 86, became the oldest bowler in ABC history to roll a perfect 300 game, a record that has since been broken; was scheduled to play in a record 72nd ABC Champions Tournament in March. He died of pneumonia.
