Carl Brewer Age: 62former NHL defenseman who led a group of players in a lawsuit against the NHL players association which resulted in a $40 million settlement in 1992; the judge's landmark ruling forced clubs to reimburse pension money the league had improperly used since 1982 and sent NHLPA head Alan Eagleson to prison; won three Stanley Cups as a player with Toronto from 1961-63; three-time NHL All-Star; led the league in penalty minutes twice; played in Detroit, St. Louis and the WHA's Toronto Toros; retired in 1974; made a comeback with the Maple Leafs in 1980, playing 20 games before retiring again.
