Tom Ridge,

former governor of Pennsylvania, was named director of the Office of Homeland Security by President Bush in the wake of September's terrorist attacks. In his cabinet-level position, Ridge is charged with bringing more than 40 federal agencies under one umbrella to prevent future terrorist attacks.
