record-setting tailback and safety at Columbia in the 1940s, who later became a producer for NBC Sports; scored two touchdowns in Columbia's 21-20 victory over Army in 1947 which snapped the Cadets' 30-game unbeaten streak; holds school records for career touchdowns and points; joined NBC as a business manager in 1957 and began producing six months later; credits include six World Series, five Super Bowls, 15 years of golf and 12 years of baseball's game of the week. He died of complications from prostate cancer. Died: Rancho Mirage, Calif., June 30
