John Murray Murdoch Age: 96
oldest living Stanley Cup champion; speedy, defensive-minded forward who in 1926 was the first player signed by the N.Y. Rangers; helped New York win league titles after the 1927-28 and 1932-33 seasons; played in 600 consecutive games, a record that stood for 30 years; retired in 1937; coached Yale hockey for 27 years. The cause of his death was not given. Died: Pawley's Island, S.C., May 17
