Dennis (Duke) Nalon

Age: 87

two-time Indianapolis 500 pole-winner and fixture at the annual race since the 1950s; started 10 Indy 500s from 1938-53, finishing third in 1948; drove the pace car in 1981 and 1983; one of the last two living pre-World War II Indy drivers, the other, George Connor, died on March 30. The cause of his death was not given.
