Gunther Gebel-Williams

Age: 66

circus animal trainer who was the main attraction of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus from 1968 to 1990. He trained lions and tigers to jump through burning hoops and to cradle themselves around his neck. Gebel-Williams bore many scars from his close encounters with ferocious felines.

Died: Venice, Fla., July 19, 2001
