Tove Jansson

Age: 86

Finnish author and artist who wrote and illustrated a series of children's books that featured the Moomins, indefatigable trolls. The books, which include Comet in Moominland (1945) and Moominland Midwinter (1958), have been translated into more than 30 languages.
