John Lewis Age: 80jazz pianist, composer, and arranger who founded and served as music director of the legendary Modern Jazz Quartet. The MJQ, known for its thoughtfully selected arrangements, combined elements of classical music and bebop and performed from the mid-1950s to the late 1990s.
