Clifford Shull

Age: 85

former M.I.T. professor who shared a 1994 Nobel Prize in Physics for helping to “answer the question of where atoms are.” He developed a technique, called neutron scattering, to study the molecular structure of materials by bouncing neutrons off them.

Died: Medford, Mass., March 31, 2001
