former general manager and coach of the N.Y. Knicks; drafted Willis Reed in 1964 and dealt for Dave DeBusschere in 1968, two moves that helped New York win its first NBA championship in 1970; was opposing coach when Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in a game in 1962; coached St. Bonaventure to appearances in two NITs and one NCAA tournament; He died of complications from a stroke. Died: Bernardsville, N.J., Jan. 20
