Hugh Rodham,

attorney and brother of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, acknowledged in February that he had been paid $400,000 to represent two convicts, Carlos Vignali, Jr., and Almon Glenn Braswell, who had applied for presidential clemency. Both President and Senator Clinton said they were not aware of Hugh Rodham's work on behalf of the men. Braswell was pardoned for convictions from 1983 on charges of fraud, perjury, and tax evasion. President Clinton commuted the sentence of Vignali, who had been serving time for charges related to trafficking 800 pounds of cocaine. Rodham returned the payments.
