Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi,

Libyan intelligence officer, was found guilty by a Scottish court in January of murder in the 1988 deaths of 270 passengers aboard Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The court, which was convened in the Netherlands, did not convict a second suspect. The plane was on its way to New York from London when it exploded and fell from the sky.
