versatile film, television, and stage actor who won wide praise for his performance in Broadway's Bent, in which he played a gay man persecuted by the Nazis. He died while filming a Stephen King miniseries. Other credits include Gods and Monsters, The Josephine Baker Story, and Dawson's Creek. Died: Spanaway, Wash., Oct. 9, 2000
