Fred Hooper

Age: 102

Florida horse owner and breeder who won the 1945 Kentucky Derby and Wood Memorial Stakes with Hoop Jr., the first thoroughbred he ever owned; bred more than 100 stakes winners and stallions at Hooper Farms outside Ocala, Fla.; won Eclipse Award of Merit in 1991 and outstanding breeder awards in 1975 and 1982. The cause of his death was not given.
