Richard Farnsworth

Age: 80

actor who began his career as a stunt man and turned to dramatic roles at age 57. He was nominated for two Academy Awards, first for Comes a Horseman in 1978 and again in 1999 for The Straight Story, about a man who rode a lawn mower more than 250 miles to see his ailing brother.

Died: Lincoln, N.M., Oct. 6, 2000
