James Grogan Age: 68
U.S. figure skater who won the 1952 Olympic bronze medal and was a four-time silver medallist at consecutive world championships beginning in 1951; director of a skating school in Squaw Valley before coaching in Japan in the 1960s; had coached at Ice Castle International Training Center since 1985, which tutored stars Michelle Kwan, Lu Chen and others; inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Association Hall of Fame in 1991. He died of multiple organ failure. Died: San Bernadino, Calif., July 2
