Philippe Chatrier

past president of the French Tennis Federation and the International Tennis Federation; credited with pushing for the sport's “open” format and helped return tennis to the Olympics in 1988; Davis Cup team member for France from 1948-50 and captain from 1969-72; had Alzheimer's disease. The cause of his death was not given.
