Jack Gardner Age: 90
legendary college basketball coach who pioneered the fast-break style in the 1950s with Kansas State and then Utah during a time when many teams still relied on set shots; only coach to take two schools to the Final Four two different times (KSU in 1948,51 and Utah in 1961,66); won 486 games over 28 seasons; nicknamed "The Fox"; ranked third among active coaches in career victories when he retired in 1971; elected to Basketball Hall of Fame in 1984. He died of a long illness. Died: Salt Lake City, Apr. 9
