Bruce Springsteen,

enraged New York City police officers in June with his new song, “American Skin,” a supposed tribute to Amadou Diallo, the unarmed West African who was shot 41 times in 1999 by undercover officers. Police called for the boycott of the Boss' Madison Square Garden shows. Springsteen opened the song repeating, “41 Shots.” The chorus includes the lines, “Is it a gun?/ Is it a knife?/ Is it a wallet?/ This is your life.”
